The current revision setup has caused some issues here at NCEI. When a user makes a revision, the system started with metadata records at SDIS, instead of the improved metadata records at NCEI. As a result, a lot of the work by NCEI's Data Content Managers was flushed off.
Moving to the future, I wonder if we could upgrade the SDIS so that after a data package is published at NCEI, the SDIS will periodically harvest the improved metadata records from NCEI?

Here is an example of NCEI's metadata record: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/oceans/ncei/ocads/metadata/0123467.html
Please work with John Relph to find out the best way to get the information from NCEI. Thanks.
