We recently double-checked the new historical GLoTEC data load on nas-bes3 which is mounted on bes-r2o-lx, we confirmed that the merge of the COSMIC2 data into operational GloTEC data which happened this March largely increased the area of effective GloTEC data, the new data cover the ocean area, especially the tropical, subtropical ocean area, where the TEC peak area always located. Before the merge of COSMIC2 data, the locations of GloTEC data are limited to the continental area, especially the American continent and Europe land.
The following plots are some example days (after this March and before it) to show the significant improvement.
The new GloTEC data with the merge of COSMIC2 data after this March has been checked and compared with the GloTEC before the merge. The results indicate that the merge of COSMIC2 significantly increased the effective GloTEC data area, both over ocrea and continental areas, especially increased over the tropical, subtropical area where the TEC peak areas are always located.
