the TEC data comparison between GloTEC and MIT GPS #81

The observational TEC data is critical for the validation of the WAM-IPE. For now, we mainly apply the GloTEC data to rule out the TEC output of WAM-IPE. many other studies apply the MIT GPS TEC. Here we would like to do a comparison between these two datasets. First, let us see how they display two storms that happened this March 24 & April 24.

The following is the comparison of the GloTEC (7272 grids) & MIT GPS (360180 grids) data of 20230322-0324 with the storm that occurred on March.24. I interpolated the GloTEC data onto the MIT GPS grids to keep the latter unchanged and we can check the dataset more clearly. Please pay attention to checking the data coverage domain between these two datasets. For GloTEC we pick up the data at that individual time same as GPS data with the quality flags of 4 & 5 and then do the interpolation for peer-to-peer comparison.
