The following plots are the comparison of the TEC on the storms days between the IPE with Astrid's revised plasma scheme against the tip WAM-IPE version.
The revised subroutine of Cross_Flux_Tube_Transport in IPE_plasma_class.F90 has been believed to improve the description of the real physics process. While as Astrid said, it is not necessary as the solution for the over-estimated TEC during the storm time. the calculation results of the TEC bias ratio (model/GloTEC) for the two storm days don't mitigate the two spikes on Mar.24 (1.22.vs.1.17 black point) and Apr.24 (1.24.vs.1,19 black point) much in the following plot, it decreases the ratios in about 0.05.
They are consistent with the TEC global mean changes on the storm days resulting from the revised cross-flux-tube scheme are about -2% to -3%.
How is the ration calculated? is this an average or based on the max TEC value?
Checking the performance on TEC changing of the new plasma scheme Astrid revised in IPE_plasma_class.F90 in the two recent storms that happened on Mar.24 and Apr.24 this year.
