IPE flux tube structure #6

After fixing the Nan issue in IPE, we realized that there are a lot of weird structures in IPE especially in the nighttime. We need to improve these unrealistic structures in order to get the model to be more stable.

For example, below shows the ionosphere at 23 UT on March 20, 2013. There are many add boundaries show up in the TEC map, which are closely associated with the odd behaviors in IPE. The transport fix for below 200km that Tim and Tzu-Wei put in has not been included in this version.

I tested it with switching off the transport. Here is the results of O+ density and velocity.

We need to understand why IPE has these behaviors without transport to start with. Also we need to find a time revisit the transport scheme that we have implemented.

Running IPE with empirical thermosphere and electrodynamics, the structure of O+ density seems to be much calmer but structures in the the O+ velocity still exist.

The issue will be reviewed with the newer version of the model.
