The ShadingProperty:Reflectance object was clarified in documentation and added reporting of these value to .eio output file. (CR #9106) #3877

Shading Surface reflectance Properties - when "WithReflections" is used.

Added on 2013-01-09 10:28 by @lklawrie

Description

User asked The input output reference indicates:

ShadingProperty:Reflectance Specifies the reflectance properties of a shading surface when the solar reflection calculation has requested, i.e., when if "Reflections" option is chosen in the Building object (ref: Building - Field: Solar Distribution).

My question is:

If the Solar Distribution input field in the BUILDING object is set to "FullInteriorAndExteriorWithReflections" or "FullExteriorWithReflections", but the Shading:* objects defined in the IDF do not have a "ShadingProperty:Reflectance" object assigned, what happens?

a) No reflectance is modeled for the shading surfaces b) the "default" properties defined for the ShadingProperty:Reflectance object are applied in source code to all Shading:* objects that are defined in the IDF c) Neither a or b (if so, please describe what happens for this scenario). I believe the answer is "a", but am asking for clarification on this issue.

The IDD was clear and the code was clear but documentation was lacking: ShadingProperty:Reflectance, \min-fields 3 \memo If this object is not defined for a shading surface the default values \memo listed in following fields will be used in the solar reflection calculation.

LKL 09 Jan 2013 Also added .eio output for ShadingProperty:Reflectance -- for the shading elements.

And clarified things in IORef.

Same comment that is in IDD is now in the I/O Ref. And as Linda indicates, when the ShadingProperty:Reflectance object is omitted for a shading surface, lines have been added to the EIO output as shown below to show that default values (0.2, 0.2 and 0.0) are being used

ShadingProperty Reflectance,REFLECTIVE FACADE TO NORTH,Detached Shading:Fixed,0.20,0.20,0.00, N/A ShadingProperty Reflectance,Mir-REFLECTIVE FACADE TO NORTH,Detached Shading:Fixed,0.20,0.20,0.00, N/A

This issue is FIXED.
