Shared EV charging? #62

For the AC3 project, we're looking into a central shared EV charger. This would require us to add EV schedules not for residential, but for something much closer to a commercial location. I THINK EVI-pro has the data to do that? If it does, how much effort do you think this would be (and would you have time if I had a task number) @mnblonsky?

I think there's been a substantial amount of research on this topic already. I think we'd need to meet with some people in the EV group to see what they recommend. I imagine there's an existing tool out there already, and maybe it makes sense to integrate with it, but not develop this from scratch in OCHRE.

100% lets not develop it from scratch. I was wondering more if you knew if EVI-pro already included the data we need, or if we need to reach out to someone in vehicles. If it's the latter I'm open to suggestions, I know one of the people we worked with last time left but maybe you better remember the contacts we had?

I think we need to reach out to someone. There is data in EVI-pro, but it gets complicated when you have overlapping charging events and only a few chargers. My guess is they have more sophisticated data and models. I could ask Brennan or Nadia or Elaine, I think they'd be able to help with this.
