Closed chrismattmann closed 9 years ago

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

We need to put up a nominal agenda on the website. Something like:

Day 1:
Keynote: NSF Polar CyberInfrastructure Program - Marco Tedesco
Begin of "unconference" and format - Chris Mattmann
Session Leaders stand up and pitch their session (lightning talks) for X minutes/piece
Coffee break
Synthesize and collate sessions and develop session list
First Hack - sessions break up and begin hacking
Lunch
Second Hack - continue hacking (feel free to switch from prior sessions or stay/maintain)
Coffee Break
Report Out - Day 1 - goals for next day

Day 2:
Review of Goals from Day 1 - outcomes
Session Leaders stand up and identify where they got and what plan for day is
Coffee break
Third Hack - sessions break up and begin hacking
Lunch
Fourth Hack - continue hacking (feel free to switch from prior sessions or stay/maintain)
Coffee Break
Report Out - Day 2 - plans for follow on (ensure DRAT is run on all code), discussion of NSF related workshops, etc.

It would be good to add times to this schedule prior to putting it on the website so that participants can plan their time in NYC. Also add the informal dinner on the first night to the schedule.

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

+1 @Saskia-van-Manen totally agree. Will add the times and also make sure to put in the dinner in NYC.

MBoustani commented 9 years ago

@chrismattmann I will add this to website

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

@MBoustani we need to add this to the website ASAP. I'll get it in there.

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

@MBoustani i just put in a basic version and the CSS needs improving. Can you please update?

MBoustani commented 9 years ago

@chrismattmann sure, I will work on style of it soon.

MBoustani commented 9 years ago

@chrismattmann Can you please upload the agenda in Google Doc and send me the link for each day? I think it is easier to update later.

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

Thanks @MBoustani how do we integrate a Google Doc into the website?

MBoustani commented 9 years ago

@chrismattmann Google Doc create an iframe for your doc that you can embed on website.

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

Thanks @MBoustani sounds like a good idea, can you set it up? I have no clue how, nor do I have time as I need to email the OC and to email the participants.

MBoustani commented 9 years ago

@chrismattmann I will take care of that.

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

@MBoustani thanks. I think @Saskia-van-Manen also mentioned we should put up the dinner on Day 1, evening, so can you grab the logistics info from Katie on that and get it up there too? Thanks.

It's at Vapiano, 113 University Pl, New York, NY 10003. As for time, it's probably easy to head over straight after, so 5:30?

curtislisle commented 9 years ago

I vote for 6pm or 6:30pm to allow hacking to finish or allow folks to drop laptops off somewhere. Thanks for organizing a dinner the first night.

Thanks @curtislisle appreciate it.

Katie and I think it'd be best to keep it at 5:30 onwards (and it still needs to be added to the agenda): firstly people's accommodation will be at varying distances, which may or may not be able to be reached within reasonable time during NYC rushour. Secondly, the way the restaurant is set-up (see below) means we can be flexible and people can come in 5:30 onwards to eat at 6 or 6:30.

From the Vapiano website: When you arrive you'll be given a vapiano card and you use this to register your order as our chef prepares your meal. Pasta, pizzas, antipasti and salads are ordered directly from our chefs at the individual stations within the restaurant and we prepare all dishes to order in front of you so that you have your meal prepared exactly how you want it. Thanks to the smart-card payment system, you just pay for what you have ordered on your card at the front desk when you are ready to leave the restaurant.

chrismattmann commented 9 years ago

Thanks @Saskia-van-Manen sounds good. @MBoustani can you grant everyone here: https://github.com/chrismattmann/NSFDataVizHackathon-2014/tree/master/programcommittee access to the Google doc, along with the other folks working on logistics? @Saskia-van-Manen once @MBoustani grants you access please feel free to add in the Vapiano dinner.

MBoustani commented 9 years ago

@chrismattmann I have granted all people in committee list.
