In case the conda-installation is used, we have it packaged in our channel: https://github.com/nsls-ii-forge/photutils-feedstock/blob/master/recipe/meta.yaml. It is also on conda-forge: https://anaconda.org/conda-forge/photutils.

Great, thanks @mrakitin. I use conda for everything I can in this repo...just a couple pip-install-from-source exceptions.
