No NitoTV on Apple TV 3.2 #13

after a few tries, the jailbreak was done, and kodi appeared, but nitoTV did not appear.

I have some doubts:

  1. Do I need to manually disable updates in order not to lose the jailbreak?
  2. When connecting via SSH and sending update with the command "apt-get update" it does not connect with. the awkwardtv.org repo:
  3. Is there anything I can do to install NitoTV manually since I have SSH access?

  1. Jailbreak should continue working fine after updates - kernel offsets have been the same for many updates now. You can install an update blocker through nitoTV when it's available.
  2. AwkwardTV repo is down. I'm going to add a new build that uses a different repo.
  3. I'll put the new version up shortly.

  1. What should I do then to get NIToTV? Should I restore all apple tv and start jailbreak again with the new version of blackb0x? or is there how i can only update the repo? Thanks!!

  2. I tried to open a video on KODI, but it is very slow, with audio out of sync too, is it the lack of some codec? Video is x264.

  1. This next version should be able to re-jailbreak without restore but potentially might need to restore.
  2. You might have to try a different version of Kodi, I'm not sure which version is best for ATV3. This is just the latest one in the repo. You can get the deb from the Kodi GitHub page.

i am using IOS AppleTV3,2_8.4.2_12H606_Restore.ipsw, is there any better for my Apple TV? In my case, the jailbreak is untethered or tethered?

The jailbreak will install untethered on your firmware OR the latest. I'd recommend updating just to avoid future update nags.

Uploaded a new build (0.3). Should install both Kodi and nitoTV.

on build 0.3, blackb0x closes after connect apple tv usb cable, and an error shows on mac: Blackb0x quit unexpectedly.

just tried with new 0.4 and it close on the same time i connect the usb cable

try to open the file inside contents\macos\blackb0x but its the same: Blackb0x quit unexpectedly.

Can you try open 0.1 again and see if it does the same?

Also try plugging the Apple TV in while it's in DFU mode.

  1. I updated the firmware back to the most current on my apple tv 3.2 (8.4.4) and now blackb0x worked fine and jailbreak was done without errors. I'm waiting for it to come back to the HDMI, it's already been over 10 minutes and the led is still flashing fast

  2. Since we have root ssh access, is there the possibility to use this apple TV as home server? Run for example AdguardDNS, rutorrent... it would have to stay on 24h, I don't know if it's possible to disable the auto-sleep options?

I unplugged it and plugged it in again, it started, I have SSH access, I was able to run apt-get update and upgrade without errors. The Kodi and NitoTV icon hasn't appeared yet, but I'll wait, because last time it appeared much later...

Do you have any direct contact where I can interact with you faster? if you guide me how I can find the ssh logs, I can send it here.

i tried to connect now on macbook, and gave the same error as before unexpectedly closing blackb0x, but i think i've jailbroken (or part of it) because i have normal ssh access

I tried to open it with 0.1, blackb0x closes the same way when the cable is connected.

Anyway, Nito TV and Kodi is installed!! I will now try to install plex.

How did you manage to install Nito Tv via SHH? What command did you use in Terminal I’ve managed to install Kodi via terminal but having no luck with Nito Tv this is command i used: apt-get install com.nito.nitoTV

I dont do that. NitoTV and Kodi was installed by the Blackb0x app, v0.4, but both are instable on my apple tv 3 Kodi: very slow to play movies, with audio out of sync NitoTV: Some permissions bugs, i fix some, but i cant search for packages, sometime the app dont even open...

Sorry, I missed this. Almost everything that can be compiled/run on 32-bit iOS can be used on Apple TV. The CPU is only A5 so it might not be ideal but it could definitely run a torrent client, DNS server etc. Take a look at this post getting a web server running on an Apple TV 2 (A4 CPU).

Due to the great instability of NITOTV and KODI, I had to restore the AppleTV firmware. Despite the bugs, jailbreaking seems ok once I got normal SSH access...But without NITOTV, PLEX or KODI, I didn't see the point in jailbreaking

Any updates on this? Seems like AwkwardTV is up again, but the server only allows a certain SSL version the current library on the Apple TV doesn't support.

@evitor I don't know if comments are allowed in Portuguese so I'm commenting in English, how did you install NitoTV on your Apple TV? I have this question and I still haven't found an updated method for it
