Tidy up the GUI code #69

This code was initially generated by wxFormBuilder but will be manually edited in future. Some of the comments added by the generator tool are no longer applicable and can be removed.

Some of the variable names are automatically generated with numbers, making the code harder to read. These can be cleaned up with more human readable names.
