I think it would be an improvement if this repo stated its purpose a bit more, and if there's a website to direct a reader to, that'd be nice.

snuggs commented 7 years ago

This IS the website @brandondees. lol. Do remember like the TC39 group. The very content, and direction was always done on github. At minimum we have some content to get out and slap sponsors on for NYC.rb. However others are seeing opportunities of collaboration like @janz93 and his meetup in Germany. Consider it a #meta project. Help developers and hiring managers to collaborate. You just may not have the links. But the entire year is already laid out.

Please let me know if you would like more clarity and/or to contribute to what you'd like to see from a site discussing the modern ruby ecosystem.

Also @brandondees come to think of it what you are asking for may just be the Pull request that is about to be merged in that @melaniegershman and I have been working on. ;-) https://github.com/NYCrb/devpunks/pull/8

brandondees commented 7 years ago

I was just hoping the repo could be a little better self-documenting. Put that info in the description.

snuggs commented 7 years ago

Please see following:

Besides the fact we're just building the site from scratch with a ruby web server and modern front end practices we've been talking about. Figure the best proof of concept is to build something you actually use yourself. #FreeJewelry 💍

Please let me know what ideas you may have come to mind as your input is very important @brandondees. Otherwise let me know what we need to do to close this issue.

🙏

a site discussing the modern ruby ecosystem.

is that the description of what this repo contains and its purpose?

https://github.com/NYCrb/devpunks/projects/1 is this where all the action happens? why not point to it from the repo's default page, using the description field and/or the README. right now it describes a bit of what the repo contains but nothing about what the purpose of the project is. how would I know if i am even interested in contributing, or where to look to begin?

snuggs commented 7 years ago

SPLENDID POINTS! @brandondees. And see by "All Contributors" THAT is an OSS contribution. Lemme round up some information and throw that up there. @melaniegershman and I have been discussing this very issue.

brandondees commented 7 years ago

I see a description, that's great! Now I know what it is! @snuggs is there still some of this kind of purpose/mission/why/what info that's still missing or TBD? if not, I think we can close this out for now

brandondees commented 7 years ago

actually i do still want to see the link to the site itself in the basic github metadata, since that's easy to find and i don't see it elsewhere

dmitrinesterenko commented 6 years ago

@snuggs do you want to address @brandondees latest so we can close this out? :) :)

dmitrinesterenko commented 6 years ago

Closing until this needs to be reopened ... again :)

snuggs commented 6 years ago

Copy that @dmitrinesterenko

What is this again again? I see this repo's issue tracker being used for NYC.rb talk proposals but what was devpunks?

Some people from NYC.rb community. Or...just a github organization. Was before there was a NYC.rb org. Any suggestions @harry-wood ?

harry-wood commented 1 year ago

Well if somebody with the requisite permissions wanted to do some tidying, I would suggest...

But maybe just that last one would help make things a bit clearer
