I forgot to post my intent to participate earlier - I actually have this mostly finished. The game creates the novel, paragraph by paragraph, by jumbling up a super-text compiled from four books pulled from Project Gutenburg:
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Anthem by Ayn Rand
I didn't choose these works for any particular reason - I think they were just on the front page. Don't even think I've read them 😬
The game creates and reads out (in the format of a game dialog box) the current paragraph, then every once in a while it gives you a choice between two different paragraphs (it only shows the first few words though).
Everything is created procedurally: title, author, when chapters happen, chapter subtitles, when you get a choice of what to write next, paragraph structure, etc. The game is completed when you reach 50,000 words - you get a congratulations message and an output of the book in TXT format. There is a primitive save/load system, so you don't have to do the whole thing in one sitting.
I need to post the code with executables, and I need to create a sample work (for which I'll try to time it so it's clear how long of a game this ends up being). ❤️❤️❤️
