For certain non-human and mouse species the Interpro and Uniprot fetching functions to make the reference file will either lead to an error or an empty Uniprot ID list with specific Interpro domain IDs and species combinations. Tried this with chicken as the species and it does not appear to have an issue.
For example:
C. elegans with either the SH3 or PH domains leads to a KeyError associated with the gene name (see screenshot). This does not occur with SH2 domains. It can fetch Uniprot IDs though prior to the error occurring.
For choanoflagellate in the Interpro database it is associated with SH2 domains, but no Uniprot IDs are fetched. This occurs with the species being inputted as either Monosiga brevicollis (Choanoflagellate) or Monosiga brevicollis.
An update on InterPro - we will create a new feature that expands capability of InterPro fetch, beyond just reviewed and is more flexible for different species.
