That's the way it's supposed to be. Are you sure your Userchrome Toggle has been updated and have you reset it manually afterwards?
In 3.8.1 I replaced the code invisible sidebar symbol with another, more invisible one. The past one increased the height of the line, which had strange effects on different systems.

I also updated the Userchrome Toggle, replacing the symbol in the default settings. Since you were using the extension before, you still have the previous symbol in your settings. So nothing would break if the extension updated automatically and you didn't touch anything. But you have updated the theme, so you need to reset the Userchrome Toggle settings
After the new update the sidebar(sideberry) does not hide after using the shortcut CTRL+ALT+Z. I have tried resetting everything and reinstalling shyfox v3.8.1 to ensure if it is a bug on my side or something but the bug was still there. After reverting to the previous version of shyfox i.e v3.8 everything seems to be working again.
NOTE: I used firefox 129 on fedora40
