The change here is interesting, and I can see where there might be value in sometimes hiding a host or service from the web interface. However, I'm not sure that the host name or service description is the right place to keep that kind of information.
I'd be happy to look closer at a PR that takes a different approach to this sort of problem, but for now, I'm going to close this.
Check if the Service or Host should be hidden based on their names (like: hide_localhost OR hide_ping);
