Apache is already installed in my machine.

Hi,

Before the google sitemap generator, Apache(2.2.11) is already installed in
my machine. 
I was installed Google sitemap generator and started the service by the
following command.

/etc/init.d/httpd start

I am able to see the sitemap admin console when i stopped my apache server
only.
Apache was installed in my machine in the location (/opt/apache-2.2.11/)
After starting this ditemap service my site is not able redirecting to my
home page.
If i stopped this sitemap service and restarted apache from my location 
/opt/apache-2.2.11/bin location then my site is redirecting to my page but
i am not able lo open the sitemap admin console.

Question 1: 

Shall i configure the default settings and start sitemap generation as
privided in the steps eventhough site url is not able to open.

Question 2:
Can i connect to other machine to generate site map from my machine. 
Ex: We have 2 environments for our site which both are same vlan. i am able
to ping the other port number from my machine. In this case i want to
generate sitemap xml for machine 2 from machine 1.

Is this possible?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using linux and OS -- cent OS 5.2 version.

Please let me know the issue as soon as possible becuase i was strucked in
this issue.
