We had a few meetings with our project instuctor (Eli)
As we have no experience we decided to put the most emphasis on catching up with what there is to know about embedded systems.
We started off with the Arduino-Uno Microcontroller (Atmega328P processor),
waiting for the order of STMicroelectronics NUCLEO-F103RB to arrive.
At first we used the Arduino work environment to get the feeling of the of the device.
Then we moved on to Atmel Studio and started writing small programs in C.
Now we are in the proccess of trying to write an event queue that might make do as a small operating system - yet to be seen.
Aside for that we are working on the first draft of "What will the system do?":
As the innitial idea is to build a Home Security-System Network in which neighbors/family and friends could share the security alerts to create a safer invironment and to allow this network of people to be notified and respond when events occur.
Note: We have been reading Michael Barr's book 'Programming Embedded Systems in C and C++.
To be done:
The STMicroelectronics NUCLEO-F103RB has arrived. We need to swich a working envinment, print the dataSheet and start working with it.
Cotinue getting farmiler with embbeded systems in general and particularly with STM NUCLEO-F103RB (A.K.A our new and shiny toy).
Write our preliminary report.
I am attaching a file with our work assigments for the next two to three weeks.
As this is the beginnig of the project this is the sort of planning I would call the test before the drive.
