Not working in Dreamweaver CS3 #121

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install in CS3
2. Attempt to expand abbreviation

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- I expect to have the abbreviation expanded, instead nothing happens at all.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- v.60 in Dreamweaver CS3 on Vista 32 (English)

Please provide any additional information below.
- Some error checking found that dw.getAppLanguage() isn't a valid
function. Removing the call to that function in zen_editor.js (line 27:
app_language = dw.getAppLanguage() and if (app_language) call on lines
29-32) makes it work for me.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Couldn't find any documentation about dw.getAppLanguage(). Now I know that is
only
CS4 :-). Ok, I shall release minor update in the week.

is installing cs4 the only solution?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
It's working fine for me on CS3, just edit the zen_editor.js file to remove
references to dw.getAppLanguage() as in my note above, or download this file and
replace the original.

It's installed in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
9\Configuration\Commands\ZenCoding

I did what oklahomabar suggested and Zen Coding began working perfectly.

( Just changed that line to app_language = false; )

Doesn't work in (Macromedia) Dreamweaver 8, even with oklahomabar's hack. Not
that I
expect it to -- I just wanted to point that out in case anyone else was
wondering.

Dear cpatik, I can install zen coding in my dreamweaver 8.

Actually, the location for dreamweaver 8 configuration files located in
different
folder. In my case, I used Windows XP and Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. The
configuration
file located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Roaming\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\Commands\ZenCoding

I have follow davidlmulder to change that line in zen_editor.js file into
app_language = false;

good luck.

The hack worked for me, but for some reason the case of the characters is being
set to lowercase every time that I expand.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
@dumplin593858783, is the page set to XHTML? It requires lowercase tags,
whereas HTML calls for uppercase.

That's just a thought, I'll look into it a bit more.

oklahomabar's solution works for my installation of DW CS3.
The XP path to the folder is:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver
9\Configuration\Commands\ZenCoding

@d.lapoi, what happened when you tried the fix?

Discovered same issue, Dreamweaver CS3, WinXPSP3. Replacement with the file
outline at #3 by oklahomabar rectified the issue.

Have attached copy of the original zen_editor.js included in the Dreamweaver
0.6 pack, and a WinMerge output showing the differences between the one
included in the pack, and the one at Comment #3.

I'm having issue with DW CS3 on Mac OS 10.5 - Originally, this hack worked for
me, but then I upgraded my mac to a newer one, grabbed a backup from time
machine, but however it did not restore my software so I had to reinstall. And
now I can't get it to work with the zen_editor.js hack :(

Any ideas?? - Also I can't seem to find these files when I install them either?

I removed this block from code and some snippets. New version of the extension
should work in a wide range of versions.
