Can't find contacts with single quote in name #197

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
I've been using gtalksms for quite a while now.

When sending a SMS or searching for a contact with a single quote in the name
(like John D'Oe), it says "No match for John D'oe"

It used to work before.

I've tried enclosing between double quotes, with no luck.

If I search by the first name (without quote), the person in question appears
in the result, with the exact same format I'm using in my attempts.

I am unable to reproduce this with the current dev-version:

[14:04:36] Flow: contact:d'oh
[14:04:37] test: Homer D'Oh

Phones
Mobile - 666999

It's about the single quote ' and not the backtick `, right?

correct, no backtick, just a single quote.. version 2.2.4..

used to work in a previous version, I haven't changed that contact in a while.

Hi,
I have similar case with scandics letters.
Unfortunalty in Finland we have lot of names with Ä and Ö.
This works perfect in some older version. Now I use 3.0.

Example:

sms command brings my received SMS:
20.7.2011 11.20.55 - ÄKultsi --> Me
Is this working?

I write
sms:ÄKultsi:Yes

and get result: No match for "ÄKultsi"

We have a issue when a phone number isn't tagged "mobile", is it your case ?

Ok... It doesn't work for all commands or only the sms one ?

For example the "contact" command ?

While I believe you two that you encounter this problem, I am totally unable to
reproduce this. If have tested with all kinds of special symbols in names, like
"Ä", "ø" and so on. The sms command works for me all the time.
If you have some developer skills you could attach your phone in debug mode to
eclipse with gtalksms set-up as project and debug this. This will surly show
the culprit.
But at least I can't do a thing until I find a way to reproduce this behavoir.
:(

I have a couple of contacts with accented characters (french names), but it
seems only the single quote is the problem. I haven't investigated further,
though.

Couldn't it be some OS localization problem ? I'm running
CyanogenMod-7-07272011-NIGHTLY for Optimus2X.

What about you Rasan ?

I'd be curious to get back to default Optimus 2X ROM and give it a try, but I
lack time :( (look at how old my CM7 release is :-))
