iSpecies features not working #2327

Description:

Hi --

I'm the site maintainer for http://bermudalichens.myspecies.info (Bermuda Lichens Scratchpad)

I've been trying to make the following blocks "appear" for each of my lichen species when you click on the species name:

Biodiversity Heritage Library Bibliography Yahoo! images Wikipedia Flickr Images Citation Etc

I've seen these features appear on other Scratchpads when you click on different taxa, but this doesn't seem to be happening for me.

Originally, I thought the problem was caused by the authority names being included as part of my species names in my list of vocabulary terms. However, I removed all of the authorities, but I still don't see these features (ie Biodiversity Heritage Library entry, Wikipedia entry, etc) when I click on the species name.

I checked the "content type" for all my vocabulary terms under "settings", and my terms are all set to "iSpecies Cache". I think this is the correct "content type"?

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

The widgets/panels were not showing because they were not enabled. To show them you have to go to the settings of the respective vocabulary at http://bermudalichens.myspecies.info/admin/content/taxonomy/edit/vocabulary/48 and check the "Display content using Mado" box. You should not link to the "iSpecies Cache" content type. This field is for linking to the "ITIS name" if you want to add more nomenclatural information to your name like authority and validity. I have changed this for you now and the panels are showing.

Dear Irina,

Thanks so much! I had no idea. Now I know. Very useful.

It's very satisfying to see those widgets/panels finally appearing.

I will tinker with the settings of that vocabulary some more to customize the views.

Thanks so much once again!

Dear Irina,

I'm sorry but there are too many widgets/panels appearing for each of my vocabulary terms (= taxa). I tried looking in various "administer" pages on my site to disable them, but I couldn't work it out.

Can you tell me how to stop some of these from appearing? Namely:

Fungus Gnats [I like Vladimir a lot, as well as his Scratchpad; but I honestly don't need his fungus gnat information on my Scratchpad] Fungus Gnat Feed [ditto... why do Vladimir's blog posts appear on my Scratchpad?] Scratchpads Issue Queue [is this really necessary?] Clustr Map Bermuda Lichens: Species Catalogue [my entire species catalogue appears as a panel for some reason] Document Store Web Pages UWho Login Block

I apologize for my ignorance. Please tell me how to disable these.

Thanks again!

Scott

Dear Scott, there is a help page on how to edit the layout of a taxon page at http://bermudalichens.myspecies.info/help/scratchpadify_help/Edit-the-layout-of-a-taxon-page. I have added a link to the Help pages to your primary links (at the top of your Scratchpad). It should be visible when you are logged in. I like Vlad too, but you are right, the Fungus gnat panels should not appear on your Scratchpad. I will ask one of the developers to have a look into why this happened.

Simon has disabled the fungus gnats panels. They were generated by the Feed aggregator module. Did you maybe add the feeds as examples in one of the training courses?
