v38.1 has high CPU usage when mining Ethash on RTX3070 #344

.. as the title says, I had NBminer running on multiple machines with RTX3070. The CPU usage on their Pentiums rose higher than 25%. No problem with GTX1070 rigs, so it's most likely a CUDA problem.

nebutech-admin commented 3 years ago

@RainbowMiner occasionally high or consistently high?

RainbowMiner commented 3 years ago

It is consistently high.

RainbowMiner commented 3 years ago

Sorry, I forgot about the system details:

Same issue for me, however im mining Ergo.

Roughly 20/25% cpu usage on a 5820k. Win 10 and 471.11 Nvidia driver.

@RainbowMiner Can you post a screenshot contain a summary table?

RainbowMiner commented 3 years ago

Sure. Here you are. This is a GTX1070/RTX3070 mixed rig.

@RainbowMiner Does this happen if added the -no-health option?

RainbowMiner commented 3 years ago

Unfortunately, yes. Still that high load, even with --no-health option.

I was looking at your images and noticed the power usage on the 3070 at 191 watts. That seems pretty high. My 3070s do not go over 130 watts producing the same hash rate as yours.

Oh. Thank you :) I had forgotten to tune down the power max. on that rig.

Do you have other programs running in the background that might be triggering this? I have a rig with an RTX 3070 and a GTX 1070 ti running on a Celeron G3900 and don't have this issue. NBminer typically sits around 0.5 or 0.6%.
