I am having this same problem. I'm using v0.5 and Wii version 3.3U, and DVDx is
installed correctly. I've tried with both a DVD+R and a DVD-RW.

If you are having a modchip installed it could be that "blocking" access to the
drive. I have a WiiD-chip installed and I get the exact same behavior. But I
can "disable" the modchip through a "press and hold the reset button"
combination on
my wii and when it's disabled it reads fine from DVD drive. How to disable your
chip
depends on your chip and must be read about in the documentation of that
specific
chip.
I have no problems with Fuji DVD-R (ritek) but sometimes if I burn to fast the
Wii
can't read disc and I also get same behavior. Burn slower of try another disc.
I'm on 4.0E.

I do not have a modchip on my Wii. The DVD-RW disc that I tried was burned at
2x, so
I would assume that would be slow enough.

Does Wii support DVD+R or DVD-RW well? I recall that even for modchips, they
are not
all supported.

Read the FAQ for DVDX:
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/DVDx#FAQ
Basically if you're using DVD+R/RW you need to change its book type to DVD-ROM.
Try
googling "bitsetting" for details.

I already knew about that. I tried it with a DVD+R, which I wasn't expecting to
work,
but then I used a DVD-RW, NOT a DVD+RW.

DVD-RW is NOT the same as DVD-R. DVD-RW is also incapable of bitsetting, unlike
DVD+RW, so you're out of luck trying to use those with DVDX if they are already
not
being read.

Okay, I have tried several different burners and I have found that burning
files
with ImgBurn works just about every time. Files load perfectly on the Wii. So
to
anyone using a different program, try ImgBurn and see how that works. I burn at
8x
and it works fine.
