Just delete the databases (/data/data/com.machiav3lli.backup/databases/) should be enough. Otherwise, updating from 8.3.2 to the patched 8.3.3 should also work. The reason behind this hastly (I think 2 hours between original and patch) overwrite/patched release, was that the original 8.3.3 had a bug on devices that had some specific apps installed (not everyone had it).
Had the same issue after updating from 8.3.3 to 8.3.4, deleting /data/data/com.machiav3lli.backup/databases/
as suggested did the trick.
Upgrading from version 8.3.2 to 8.3.3 worked fine but then the release was replaced with a hotfix and after installing the 8.3.3 hotfix, Neo Backup wouldn't open. It launches then crashes.
I tried clearing cache and reinstalling the app fresh, but neither wored.
I downgraded to 8.3.2 and it works.
On Etar Calendar there was a similar problem with their new release due to a change in the way packages are labels on LineageOS. Here is a link to that issue:

I am using LineageOS 20.0 (Sept 6 weekly) on a Pixel 5.
