Host driven user group transfer between worlds #361

Situation

  1. Host and multiple users being in a running world session.
  2. The session host wants to take the active users to a different world/session.

Implementation suggestions I can think of two different modes,

  1. Forced switching: All active users are forced to the new world/session without consent. This should be an option in the world settings.
  2. Opt-in switching: The host can send out an invite to join the new world/session via the chat system to all active users.

Overall this feature would make it eaiser to explore different worlds as a group guided by a host.

This is something I considered for uses in education, so teacher could easily take users with them. However I'm not sure if this would be a high priority right now? Usually users just follow the host into another world either through world orb or the friends list.

I'm planning to host meetups with a lot of people at some point in Neos and I wanted to request this feature to prepare for this. It could be regarded an important feature to reduce the friction for users in education scenarios which have been one of the motivations for creating NeosVR.

When are you hosting the meetup? I'm currently putting all energy to building MTC and the new UI system, I want to get these out ready as soon as possible, so I'm trying to avoid other side features for now.

The meetups can wait until Neos is ready for them and staying focused is the best way to get there.
