Unable to install nodes on PD 2.4 SP1, Windows 10 #7

Dear Developers,

Thanks for the great work. I'm unable to install the PD nodes on PD 2.4. I followed the instructions but the nodes do not appear. I have repeated several times the "Scan for missing features" step and also restarting the computer but has not worked. I have Microsoft's .NET 4.8 (4.8.03761) installed. If I try opening the consensus example templates an error appears that PD does not "know" recognize the nodes on top of the MSFragger and Prophet nodes.

My setup: Windows 10 (19041) Proteome Discoverer 2.4 SP1 (2.4.1.15).

When I look on the About Thermo Proteome Discoverer I see it listed in the "Installed components"

C:\Program Files\Thermo\Proteome Discoverer 2.4\System\Release\MSFraggerPDv24.dll (1.0.0.0)

Any clues what could be the issue?

Thanks,

Alejandro

Dear Developers,

I was able (I think) to install the nodes. Upon calling Thermo.Magellan.Server -install, I saw that there was an error popping up for the dll, Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515. Searching for it I found that might be a problem of the dll being blocked. However, when right clicking, there was no option to unblock in the preferences. I unlocked it with Powershell using: unblock-file -path "PATH" After doing that and re-running the Thermo.Magellan.Server I was able to see the nodes.

Ok, let us know if the searches work

Hui-yin, should we add this suggestion to our PD node website?

Hi Alejandro,

Thanks very much for the effort of resolving the issue. Yes, we have received some users' feedback, reporting that they were unable to install our MSFragger-PD node. After checking, we notice the reason is often because of the dll file is blocked by windows system. So, we add this to the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) in our github repository. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Why can't I see the MSFragger PD node after installation?

A: Please check that (1) you have .Net 4.7 or above https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework installed in your computer, (2) the "MSFraggerPDv2x.dll" file is not blocked by your operating system. To unblock it, right click on the file and select 'Properties'. In the 'Attributes' section, select 'Advanced' and then click 'Unblock'.

Please feel to ask if you have other questions when using our MSFragger-PD node. Thanks!

Huiyin
