Supported configurations in Azure

Summary

Hi team,

I was just checking the table "HA pairs with shared managed disks" and noticed some inconsistencies. The Capacity-based license column lists E8ds_v5 without any footnote. So I assume it is supported in single-az and multi-az configurations. However, some instance types like E8ds_v4 have footnote 4 which is explained as:

  1. These VM types are supported for HA pairs in single availability zone and multiple availability zone configurations running on shared managed disks. For Ls_v3 VM types, multiple availability zone support starts from ONTAP version 9.13.1. For Eds_v5 VM types, multiple availability zone support starts from ONTAP version 9.14.1 RC1.

Question: Where is the difference between instance types with or without footnote 4? Are those without footnote 4 supported in single-az configurations only?

The Optimized column lists E8ds_v4 with footnote 3. Explained as:

These VM types are only supported for HA pairs in a single availability zone configuration running on shared managed disks.

Does that mean the E8ds_v4 instance with optimized license is only supported in single-az configurations? Because footnote 3 is not listed with thhe E8ds_v4 instance type in the Capacity based licensing.

Thanks, Alex
