@nlsntap thanks for your feedback. We'll update the docs accordingly.
@nlsntap, note added to the Learn about Cluster, Storage, and Shared switches topic.
Thanks for your feedback. Closing this issue.
Thanks for the quick turn-around. Unfortunately the note seems to be places suboptimally. It's positioned directly beneath the paragraph that talks about "front-end" and "back-end" switches. One could understtand the note in a way that both - front-end and back-end switches - need to be ordered from NetApp. But it's only applicable to the back-end switches.
Thanks @nlsntap, I'll clarify in the doc that it's only back-end switches. I'll reopen this issue to track my update. Thanks.
Updated and available. Thanks for your feedback.

Learn about Cluster, Storage, and Shared switches
Summary
Hi,
NetApp only supports switches for cluster network and storage attachment that are qualified and sourced from NetApp. We often hear customersd asking if they cannot just buy the required vendor/model switch from Cisco directly or their partner of choice - usually because of price. Can we please add a note here, that these switches must be sourced from NetApp - similar to what we have documented here in context of MetroCluster: [https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-metrocluster/install-ip/concept_considerations_differences.html]
"Only NetApp-validated [MetroCluster] switches (ordered from NetApp) are supported."
As this generally applies to all switches used for cluster network or storage.
Cheers, Niels
