As far as I know, if the customer upgrades the switches without disabling LIF auto-revert, ONTAP will move the LIFs back when the switch reboots and comes back online.
If the two cluster switch firmware and/or RCF files are not compatible, and the ISLs aren't passing traffic, the cluster could experience an outage.
Auto-revert should be disabled at the beginning so the LIFs only migrate, but don't revert, until both switches are upgraded.
