Replace the chassis - AFF A70 and AFF A90

Summary

Hi there...

I'm spinning up this GitHub issue to request a technical review with the HW SMEs for the "replace chassis" procedure for platform family. The current procedure might need to better account for weight issues and the "2 controllers in 1 chassis" architecture and how you would power it back up after the chassis replacement.

I’m going to assume that the new chassis has to be installed in the same rack location as the original/current chassis.

These are the steps that I would propose:

  1. Remove power cords from ALL PSUs and REMOVE all PSUs (saves you about 9.5 lbs)
  2. Remove all cables from BOTH controllers and organize them away from the chassis
  3. Swing down and remove cable management tray - leave cables in tray to keep organized
  4. Remove top controller and place in a safe place (Note: A loaded controller is probably in the 35-40 lb range)
  5. Remove bottom controller and place in a safe place
  6. Remove all of the internal SSDs/drives from the front of the chassis and place in a safe place
  7. Remove the old chassis from the rack.

[Reverse the order of steps, mostly]

  1. Install the new chassis into the evacuated space in the rack.
  2. Install bottom controller.
  3. Install top controller.
  4. Reinstall cable management trays
  5. Re-insert the cables
  6. From front, reinstall all of the internal SSDs
  7. Reinstall all 4 PSUs
  8. Plug in power cords to all 4 PSUs
  9. Watch console and check that both nodes boot up. Perform a storage giveback, if necessary.

Whatever we do for a70-90 I'll do for the Gizo Chassis procedure. I think I can get the fully loaded controller weight from Eric Bell or Mike Suekawa.
