More beginner-friendly discussion of metrics #1318

The current metrics Wiki page is too detail-heavy. That page should be broken down into, roughly:

What metrics get created during the execution of commands?
How can I consume metrics in realtime?
How can I store metrics for later, offline analysis?
What problems can the metrics help solve?

That would be great - I appreciate it! I'll have some time next week to start adding the outline similar to above, and they we can collaborate on it
