opening projects for the first time takes too long... parsing mzxml #17

I will have to test it on your machine. On my machine(s) it works fine. After the first 50 lines it stops the file parser and parses the header XML in milliseconds. Can you confirm that you have the latest version of this file: https://github.com/NetherlandsMetabolomicsCentre/mzExtractGui/blob/master/grails-app/services/nl/nmc/mzextract/MzxmlService.groovy

Yep.. I've got the latest version but the mzXML files I have here are 1GB each.. The files you test with are much smaller (I presume)

This should not be a problem because only the first 50 lines of the XML are read/parsed.

it seems to be a one time only just for a new study..even after a restart of netbeans the project opens quickly

That makes it even stranger because there is no caching involved.
