button to show virtual keyboard #7

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

A button to open the virtual keyboard would be handy, and easier for common
use than using the menu button.

On my Nexus One, I can load the keyboard very easily in any application by
clicking 2
seconds on the menu button.
I don't know if it is from Android 2.x or just every phones that don't have real
keyboard.

Do you really need it Gillou? IMHO current state (MENU, click) is useful and
good enough.

Mmmm... not so much. A specific alternative more compact keyboard, with keys
more
usefull for media uses, like arrows and space, would be more usefull (can be
via menu
also, would not be a problem)

Btw, actually i just don't care as the keyboard just don't work at all for me :

i also have a desire, but pressing a real button is straining for me and the
button. Pls make a virtuall button it would be no problem if the button is very
small and in one corner.

i too find opening the keyboard a bother, but i do remember being able to bring
up the keyboard via holding menu. i'm on the HTC Eris. so maybe during a
quick 'setup' slideshow at the beginning you can introduce the app and a few
how-to's.

would be nice a set of default keys or combination of key (arrows, alt+tab,
ctrl+alt+canc if you use windows :D)
