Maybe with a scaling bracket, an indicator around the HQ area that moves position to indicate how many cards you can hold in your hand?
That's an interesting idea. @cmcadvanced did you imagine it like this? I like how it doesn't depend on the player doing math and does not need to display a number. It's also not taking too much space and yet is positioned near the focus area and hard to miss. I'm only a little concerned that it is arbitrarily encompassing the leftmost 5 cards, as if they were treated differently and the Spy Camera on the far right is somehow excluded, but that's a minor risk. It's a definite improvement 👍
Totally, but doing it inverted is also an option, like if the player draws over their hand limit, there could be a bracket that increases in length and maybe color depending on how many cards are drawn. A nice cool blue hue when you're 1 card over limit, and hotter colors when you start to really over draw to emphasize that this is possibly a reckless action
It could also be something like n empty small cards icon on the bottom right corner, where n = grip limit. Each time a card is in the grip, the empty card icon becomes "full" in a blue/green color. When it exceeds the limit, we could draw a red card icon near the green ones, one per exceeded card.
If HQ or Grip is over capacity, hint it visually.
