Efficient Poisson Sources ? #207

Open apdavison opened 11 years ago

I don't really know how to call it, but I think there is the need for the creation of a fast and efficient SpikeSourcePoisson. Now, in Brian, a PoissonInput device is behaving like the poisson_generator of nest. Both are memory efficient, and should be used when people know that they just want some spike trains to bombard their cells, and not care of recording them. I don't know what should be the name of such a device, but I think that it will be usefull, allowing the user not to have tricky manipulations to access to efficient noise generators. I ll start something with MultiSpikeSourcePoisson

How about calling it "EUnumPluribusSpikeSourcePoisson" ? ;-)

apdavison commented 11 years ago

Turns out it should be "ExUnoPluraSpikeSourcePoisson" according to http://serendipity.lascribe.net/ling-lang/2005/07/unus-solus-totus-ullus/, since "neuronum" is neuter (according to http://www.latin-dictionary.net/definition/27827/neuronum-neuroni)
