Think about using an intermediary level for the UG API which is supposed to

be more stable in terms of developmental changes
hide UG API functionality that is not explicitly needed in the NeuroBox (and only makes it hard to find the essential class methods in an object's representation's drop-down menu)

You could implement VFilter interface for your ComponentFilter in VRL, which could be applied within the NeuroBox configurator as dicussed previously.

The VRL-UG-API-NeuroBox (or whatever we call it) plugin configurator would perhaps be a more suitable choice (depending on what we are going to filter, of course).
