I don't know why all of these old commits are coming along. I did a clean clone of the test.neurotech.edu repo and only changed the files from my single commit here.

I know why. The test-edu is not a perfect copy of the learn repo. I had to adjust the cname and other things so that the test website could work. Could you just fork directly from learn.neurotechedu.com and make the adjustments there? I'll add you as a collaborator
