Bug? database cleanup #34

Open Addonman opened 2 weeks ago

Addonman commented 2 weeks ago

I imported nodes from gathermate2 data addon +wowgathering nodes addon and i tried to clean database but it doesn't seem to work. And now whole map is filled with nodes so its hard to see stuff from other addons like handy notes.

Do you happen to have a question? That sounds like it's working as intended.

The amount of herb and mine nodes in modern expansions is so dense that it's not surprising that they cover everything on the map. Get used to turning off or filtering certain things as needed or reduce alpha transparency to see other addon marks.

For herbs the node gathering is really mostly useless these days, as they are practically everywhere. I would never actually show them on the map. Maybe they are useful for making routes, but even then you practically cover the entire map. :D

I thought database clean up is for that -so you collapse maybe 100 nodes into 20 so you clean up map as well. Its is indeed covering whole map when all nodes are showing up. Maybe you are right since i cant compare full map and cleaned up map.

Database clean up is filtering it. You collaps nodes that are 30 something (not sure what that 30 in addon actually means in distance) apart into 1 node.

I'm aware of what cleanup does. Filtering is filtering out certain nodes. That's a different function... Ie show only certain herb types.

Modern expansions have two problems with this.

One: the nodes are still too dense all over the map. Two: the herb and mine nodes can spawn any type of herb or mine that can appear in zone.

Both of which are different from older expansions and vanilla where nodes are specific for each thing and more spread out.
