Hello,

when i play back an media file with DTS audio track, nor lav nor internal decoder mpc-hc is able to bitstream/passthrough dts sound !!! Yet, the media file plays just fine on my bluray hardware player set to passthrough digital audio tracks such as dolby, dts, dts-hd etc!!

Same thing happends in powerdvd !! I only get sound when powerdvd decodes it to pcm, wich sounds dull and quiet compared to the quality bitstreamed !!

Now the strange part is, when i tried to re-encode the dts track to E-AC3 , next best thing close to the quality of dts. the media files does bitstream it in mpc, but not in powerdvd NOR my bluray hardware player outputs sound.. Yet both players receive the correct info about the audio track !!

does any one has an idea how i can overcome that, whats going on ? i can provide an DTS sample if neccesarry ..

I await an reply,

cheers,

This is not in any way related to LAV Filters. It is due to wrong configuration of Windows sound settings.

Open Windows Sound settings. First make sure that the correct audio device is selected as default. In the properties of that audio device there is a tab where you can see which audio formats it supports for bitstreaming. Make sure those are correct and all enabled. Then on advanced tab, make sure that exclusive mode option is enabled.

I forgot about the sound config from windows.. since it wos already configuated for my dolby atmos receiver before this issue !! But i doubble checked , and it states all bit depths 16-24 is supported, Sample rates 32khz - 192khz is supported though !!

formats like True-HD wich is high difenition DTS if iam not mistaken (Lossless), DD+, are all mentioned in windows sound config ?

And this is the interesting part, ive downloaded an DTS sample from here → https://www.demolandia.net/cinema/dts-demo-trailers-hd/page-1.html , and again my stand alone bdplayer bitstreamed it to my receiver just perfect ... But powerdvd & mpc-hc needs to decode it to pcm to have sound !??

Is this an software player issue after all !??

Cheers, TD

..ermmm... is it possible RECEIVERS sold past 2023, may not support all the DTS formats (DTS-HD etc..)?
And only Dolby Digital formats !!

wow , if that's the case, i feel like ripped off !!

fyi, the receiver iam reffering to is a Philips 8505/10 soundbar.. And in the manuall i read everything about Dolby audio format support but nothing about "DTS" ... !!!

I guess, my bdplayer must either downmix dts signal after all or decode it to pcm !!

My other receiver wich is an Denon AVR-x2600h bitstreamed all formats on all my devices no matter wich format , DTS, Dolby Atmost etc..

That must be it ...

cheers,
