[Question] Is there a plan to fork Electron and backport changes? #29

NewCP-App is an electron based client for running New Club Penguin. It comes with a builtin flash player, and uses a version of Electron from before flash support was dropped.

Does the NewCP desktop app having Flash create difficulties in updating Electron? I know Chromium has ripped out much of their plugin code. NewCP is still on Electron 11.1.1 and Chrome 87. There's a bug with it where it'll stay in the background after being closed and consume memory, which you are already aware of. Is there a plan to fork Electron and backport changes?

I have no idea where the issue lies and what it would take to fix it. I would not create an issue here due to that. Previously asked in the Discord only to face abuse. There was no channel for discussing NewCP itself and supposedly the only way to talk to contributors of the project is to create a ticket, which there were only two options for. There's no discussions here, which are the best fit for questions like this, so hence an issue.

Hello there! Thank you for your concerns, We have had plans on updating electron however since Chrome 89+ removed Pepper API entirely it is not possible to update chromium/electron for the time being.

Might it be worth using a tool like ruffle to run the game? This would also negate the requirement for a separate program to download.
