@timothyjosull1 you mentioned some sort of a pool that could be another option for trading power in once there was enough battery storage.

Are you able to document that here to give an overview of: What it is? What we would need to do to implement it?

Hey Seb, I was referring to the Fast and Sustained Instantaneous Reserve markets https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/information-industry/electricity-market-operation/ancillary-services/instantaneous

When participating in these markets, the service is to reserve an amount of capacity (along with an amount of energy reserved alongside), to be delivered once the AC grid frequency drops too low (<49.2Hz I think).

In terms of minimum size requirements, Im not clear on that, but Id be assuming a 1MW (1000kW) minimum.

Ok cool - I'll cc @mikecaseyflo in on this as he'd know best what their capacity is likely to be when they get the new storage installed.

Would we contact transpower to find out what the minimum requirement is?
