Linux Support #45

Didn't see any mention of the other white meat anywhere- will you be looking at Linux support anytime soon? If so, I have money for you!

SoylentGraham commented 8 years ago

Although the code will build for Linux (it builds for android and ps4), I haven't looked into adding VA-API (Intel) and VDPAU (nvidia). Though maybe those apis/drivers are on Windows/osx and possibly wouldn't take too long to implement...

Though I don't have a machine running Linux, not sure if virtualbox will support those. (For testing.) but initial support might not take too long to add

Anyway, it's somewhere down my todo list! But for one sale, i have to make other things a priority first :(

Though if you have a commercial budget for it, I do take on commissioned features for people. (Specific drivers/devices etc)

Guessing that's not the case for Linux support though :)

I do want to get this in at some point for some AWS GPGPU work though, so it's definitely not never :)

Cool- yeah I have a numbers problem when it comes to Linux- the install base is so small that it's hard to justify even small business expenses in order to support it- so I totally understand.

On the other hand, the Linux crowd is loud and entitled, and I'd rather not end up on their bad side. I like my thumbs unbroken, you know?

^That's not a veiled threat, by the way. Unless you think it is, and it motivates you to bump Linux support a few rungs up the todo list. In that case, it totally is.

How do you like your thumbs?

+1 sale for Linux support

SoylentGraham commented 8 years ago

Starting to get there. Still working on getting SoyLib to compile with GCC first. (or trying to get clang working in ubuntu)

Awesome!

Progress is slow due to my lack of time. But is mostly straightforward. Looking out for someone to aid in this if they have the time, I have a little cash.
