google is a good friend
To be honest I'm still unclear on the distinction between Class I and II after reading that. Or what factors go into determining whether a waterbody is I or II. Every source I looked up didn't go into much detail about it. I left it out because I figured it doesn't have a huge relevance to fish passage. Correct me if I'm wrong.
this has good info too
All anglers required to buy a basic angling licence must also purchase a Classified Waters Licence before fishing on a stream during the period when it is classified. Details of which streams are "classified" are in the regs.
It matters if you are a resident or not too. if you are from Alberta for example you have to buy a license for each day and can't fish for more than 8 days.
More detail in those regs. Not super clear on difference between Class 1 and 2 but the cost and the license you need to buy to fish is different and it is likely that Class 1 are the most "precious" and protected - hence the higher cost.
Set up to stop overfishing and reduce crowding in streams like the ones we work in.
Should specify that this is regulatory too so that people don't think we are talking about whitewater classes.....
