Taranis RSSI warning #170

Which board (stock / gruvin9x / sky9x / Taranis) are you using?

What is your openTx FW version?

Taranis, latest public OpenTx.

What is your openTx EEPROM version?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Please provide any additional information below.

The frequency of Taranis RSSI warnings, both types, seem to be excessive. I fly
composite gliders, when circling in thermals there are points in each turn when
both aerials are shadowed by the fuselage/wing of the model and I get both a
RSSI warning and a failure voice message every turn. This didn't happen with my
9X using the same aircraft and FRSKY Tx module and Rx, with OpenTx. I have
range checked this model with both the "old" FRSKY gear and Taranis and get the
same result, so it would appear that Taranis is more sensitive to RSSI alarming
than the previous generation.

I ask that the alarms be generated in the same way as previously, presumably
after seeing a given number of low RSSI readings, or after low RSSI readings
have been received for a few seconds, or similar.

I have a similar experience. Taranis seems to be more sensitive.
I got used to it, but it is disconcerting.

Perhaps it is just a higher update rate on telemetry? Perhaps some filtering is
required to smooth occasional outliers out?

Would you enable logs so that we can have a look to the values and see which
filter would be the best?

Yes I will do that. The next time I plan to fly will be next Sunday - in a
contest so there should be plenty of data after that.

Sorry that I have not responded. The contest was cancelled due to weather and I
haven't been able to fly the relevant model since. Hopefully in the next week,
wind permitting.

Log as requested. Commenced after about 5 min of flight.

X8R whiskers in a CF fuselage. One whisker out top of fus, other out the side.
