NMM Release 0.70.1 crashes when trying to add mod from file #744

Fresh install. Removed any trace of nexus from my computer. Used ccleaner and searched for "nexus" in windows explorer did not find anything. Did the same thing for Skyrim SE. Then installed Skyrim SE and Nexus 0.70.1. I am running as admin and do not have any antivirus software at the moment. 0.65.11 was working fine. When trying to install skse archive from desktop using the Add Mod From File button, it crashes and asks if i want a tracelog. I clicked yes:

Running Threads (0)

Tried not running as admin but that causes an endless "moving" status. Double checked im not running any antivirus. I did authorize. Windows and drivers are up to date. Tried restarting my computer.

It shouldn't crash, but you're not supposed to install SKSE through NMM. By choice NMM is unable to install files in the game's main directory

I have been able to reproduce this issue consistently with any mod. The error in the trace log seems to indicate that it is looking in the wrong directory to retrieve the file.

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'F:\Games\Nexus Mod Manager\Mod Configuration Menu 1.36-21497-1-36-1552586815.zip'.

The directory specified is not the directory that my mod file exists in. The mod file exists in "F:\FO4ModsBackup\Mods\Mod Configuration Menu 1.36-21497-1-36-1552586815.zip" which is the location selected using the Add Mod From file.

Weird because i have been installing skse64 the same way i always do for over a year and i have found no issues. I simply drag the contents of the skse archive not including the folders into the the directory and then pack the data folder into an archive and click the add mod from file button to transfer over the archive and activate it. After installing this new version i crash when doing so. So my way of installing is not correct and is not a NMM issue?

The crash shouldn't happen (fixed in 0.70.2 that will be released in a couple of hours), but skse shouldn't be installed thorugh NMM.

i found out that nmm seems to only finds the mods in its own program file directory, as i was having the same problem but when i moved the mod into the nexus's main program file NMM found it and added it so idk why that is but i just found it out, also the mod needs to have the same name as the one in the error log.

but yes SKSE has its own website with its own installer, and its better to just use that instead

Ok well looks like i have been installing skse the wrong way for a year even tho i have had no issues before installing this version. Also i only see an installer for the classic build. But thank you guys for helping me out.

Ok the crashing has stopped after installing the newest version. Also installing skse seems to work now after the fixes. Thank you!
