Bug Report - corrupted extensions after failed update - was: Stardew Valley is gone #10664

Vortex Version: 1.4.16 Memory: 7.95 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.19043) Hello! I was playing Stardew Valley yesterday and then I closed Vortex. After I closed it, I noticed that it did not immediately appear in my managed games. I went to the games tab to search for it, but it is not there. I closed Vortex multiple times, re-installed it, and showed hidden games (of which I had none). I play Stardew Valley 1.5.4 and you haven't just suddenly stopped supporting it so I am wondering what happened. In the files attached, you can see that I have previously installed Stardew Valley mods, but you can also see that it does not show up.

Sorry for the late reply, I hope you already found a solution. You were very unlucky there, Vortex tried to update the extensions and github was experiencing server issues at the time. For some reason this resulted in the game extension on disk being corrupted. The log file generates error messages for the affected extensions, you want to delete:

C:\Users\Eve\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\plugins\Vortex Extension Update - Stardew Valley v0.2.4
C:\Users\Eve\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\plugins\Vortex Extension Update - World of Tanks v1.0.1
C:\Users\Eve\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\plugins\Vortex Extension Update - X4_ Foundations v1.0.2

to get them re-downloaded.

I'll leave this ticket open because Vortex should be preventing this from happening, if we experience a network error we should cancel and revert the update process for an extension.

This seems to work correctly usually, I can't reconstruct why it failed in this case
