Triaged [Added] - Vortex keeps mod rules in Collections for deleted mods #14666

Problem I am creating a Collection which naturally involves installing and removing mods. I noticed that Vortex keeps all mod rules ever defined. Even if one of the mods is no longer installed and/or is not part of the collection anymore, the rule is still there.

This produces many orphaned entries and makes everything confusing especially with a large collection. In addition, this could also cause unwanted side effects.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install some mods which overwrite parts of each other
  2. Add them to a Collection
  3. Remove one mod
  4. Inspect the "Mod Rules" tab of the Collection. The rules should still be there.

Expected behavior If one mod get's removed from the Collection all rules referencing the mod should also be removed from the Collection.

Screenshots The mod "Golden Dwemer Pipeworks" is neither part of the Collection, nor is it installed. However, the Collection still contains the rules for it:

Hi,

This issue has been added to the Vortex backlog. We are utilising Gitlab for our internal planning which is private and not accessible to non Nexus staff. We will revert back to linked issues with any relevant updates such as when work has been committed to a development cycle, expected release etc.

That said, you may have seen our recent news post letting our users know that we are currently working on developing a successor to Vortex; Nexus Mods App which will deliver the next generation of mod management.

With this in mind, we are undertaking a review of all outstanding Vortex requests to determine their validity so you may see some updates soon on these older requests, either committing them to continued Vortex development or notifying that they have been passed to the app team for consideration in their design and development. The development of the Nexus Mods App is public and we will be able to include a link to the related issue which has been created so you can continue to track its progress.

Once again, thank you for being an active member. If you missed the news post, you can read it here: https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14874

I made a mistake with managing file conflicts and adding a variation of the same mod. A simple solution would be to regenerate the rules based on the existing profile just as when you create the collection. edit: oh there's a file override section.
