Game Crashes/Mods not working in game

This is a collection issue for reports about the game crashing or mods not working in game.

All Vortex does is install mods and potentially do some changes to ini files, it can not directly cause your game to crash. It can not keep mods from working directly.

If you're seeing game crashes when running through Vortex this is probably caused by the mods you have enabled with Vortex, maybe they are incompatible, maybe they're using too much memory, maybe your plugins aren't ordered correctly.

If you're seeing mods not working then maybe they were not installed correctly.

We can't rule out that a Bug in Vortex may be indirectly connected to it (e.g. Vortex may be failing to order the plugin list correctly) but we can't investigate issues that may or may not be indirectly related to Vortex. This is why this issue is closed.

If you determine that Vortex is the cause of your game crash or mod not working you have to report the immediate thing vortex did wrong in detail - e.g. don't report "the game is crashing", report "vortex orders the plugins this way \<include plugin list> with plugin \<a> before plugin \<b> but according to the mod author it has to be after \<include link>". Only then do we have a chance to find the issue and fix it.

Vortex Version: 0.16.15 Memory: 7.93 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.17134) My Game start to crash everytime I try to run it with FASE. It didnt crashed for the first ,let's say, 20 times when I started the game. But after I downloaded and Enable some mods, where the sign was shown with "Conflict" and "Missing Masters". The game started to get freezes and at the end start to Crash. Nearly everytime when I try to start Fallout 4 ,even over Steam, the game Crashes after a few Seconds. I dont even get to the menue. I tried to get rid of all those Conflict parts, make them compatible etc. but those "Missing Masters" are still there. I even repaired the Game via Steam. But it still Crashes after it. I deleted those Lines for FASE and for the Mods. Like in FalloutCustom and the FalloutPrefs which are necessary for playing with some Mods. I really dont know what I should do now. I readed all the Information about those Mods and how to Install them proparly but it still Crashes. I guess I just need your Help Guys.

Vortex Version: 0.16.15 Memory: 15.97 GB System: win32 x64 (6.2.9200) Since yesterday i automatically CTD at each save game i load. The random picture appears during the loadings screen then it crashes but, just before crashing there is a lfickering of the main menu Dragon picture that comes back very fast and then it definetly crashes... I allready uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice and it still crashes.... I don´t know how the log must be read to find the source of the problems. Thanks for the Help.

Also I can not sort or deploy the plugins and I am having a problem with Loot, loot is not seeing all my mods I down loaded from Nexus but only sees the mods from stream. Vortex Version: 0.16.15 Memory: 11.85 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.17134) When I try to launch New Vegas through Vortex, the game crashes at the loading screen. I tried uninstalling the game and running it without Vortex and it works fine, but as soon as I manage it through Vortex, even without any mods installed, it crashes. Fallout 3 won't even launch, I click the launch icon, and nothing happens. I can run Fallout 4 and Skyrim SE with mods, without issue. Since I can run New Vegas and Fallout 3 without Vortex, this seems to be a Vortex issue. I've tried all the common fixes; running as adminitrator, checking compatability mode, etc, and nothing helps. I have a friend who plays the same games and he doesn't have any of these issues. If you could please investigate this issue, and get back to me, it would be appreciated.

Vortex Version: 0.17.3 Memory: 11.90 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.17134) I heve loaded the folowing mods ( amazing foller tweaks v 1.66, body slide /outfit v.62, dda v 3.0, ddi v 4.2, ddx v 4.2, deviusly cured loot v 7.5.7, fnis data, hdt physics ex v 14.28, hydra slave girls 827 main, hydra slave girls 827 texture, laura bondage shop v 2.01, sos, zaz animation v 7.0.) i have tryed different graphic settings from low to ultra high , no differance, run the generate fnis prior, leaving a structure 50/50 only make it through 1/2 the time and it kicks me to the vortex dashboard. outher times it frezzes and i have to reset. any recommendation would be helpfull. my sys is I7 intel, 16 gig ram and four gig on video card radeon 460.

After a bit, I decided I didn't want it anymore and uninstalled it. However, when I logged back into the game, the borders were still there as if I never removed it. Vortex Version: 0.17.8 Memory: 15.94 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.17763) I switched from NMM to Vortex as I was starting to have issues with NMM. After several crashes, I decided to start from scratch and removed then installed each mod. I went through several attempts to ascertain if there were any conflicts after the initial fixing. I also made sure everything was enabled/added that needed to be. I watched a few You Tube vids on how to utilise certain mods and the game keeps crashing after starting. I initially started an older save to see if certain mods had taken effect. I was not concerned if these crashed as I knew there were a few missing saves. When I was installing the mods I kept getting a mesage informing me of Some save files could not be read when I clicked on more I saw (,invaild file header"). I get that measaafge everytime Irun the deploy function. I also noticed Loot still thinks I have two blood enhancers enabled which I do not. When I selected a new game I used the alternate start to avoid the start sequence to speed up the process. I created my character, and when I waited for all the messages to stop, the game crashed. After the game crashes I also get the some save could not be read, with the same message in the more tab. Even after deleting all my older saves the game still crashes, and all I see as a warning in the diagnostic files is something I do not understand. Hopefully I can sort this problem out. I also do not understand if Loot is reading from Vortex or an old NMM file. NMM is still installed with all mods deactivated all plugins deactivated. All my old saves were also deleted and then the warning went away regarding not being able to read some saves. I did notice that when the plugins in NMM were deactivated it also deactivated them in Vortex. Is this normal? Should I delete all mods from NMM? I followed a video tutorial on installing Vortex and importing mods from NMM so this is also confusing. Loot will not work for the Vortex mods I have confirmed that. Any help is welcome as long as it is helpful and not stupid such as stating user error. That is not useful! I think I included all the points required. I uninstalled Loot and re=installed it but it still is locked on the NMM list which does have different mods. I checked as much as possible in my pc for the location for the errors, but I could not find them, not my area of expertise. I think this covers everything?

Most of the time the load screen starts up and in a few seconds the game crashes. It has done this most of the day; however, for a brief time it worked fine and now it is back to crashing. Vortex Version: 0.17.11 Memory: 15.93 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.17134) The mods doanloaded and installed correctly but when starting fallout 4 VR from vortex or from my desktop it will crash after 30 seconds or so. It did start one time but crashed after about a minute of starting correctly.

I have not messed with game files other than downloading Fallout 4 Plugins Mover 1.1.0-28929-1-1-0.exe which was suppose to help but has not done much.

I am new to modding and don't know that much about it so please help.

I do have a variety mods installed. However, it seems to run fine.

After installing the Nexus update, I launched Fallout New Vegas and discovered that I can no longer leave the room I am in (Mac's Shack). As soon as I leave the game crashes. I tried loading earlier saved games and they will not load at all, they crash immediately. I have tried redeploying my mods as well, but that does not seem to make any difference. Help! Please let me know if there are any logs you need me to capture for you.

Vortex Version: 0.18.6 Memory: 15.94 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.17134) I haven't played skyrim in a couple months and it was working fine with vortex and all the mods I had when I played it last. After updating Vortex I tried to run Skyrim (SE) again and it wont even start up. Running the SKSE button causes the word 'running' to appear under it, then I am taken to a windows permission screen asking if it's okay for vortex to make changes to the drive in which I say yes. Then the word 'running' appears under the main Skyrim button, then the word vanishes and the game never even starts up, no black screen, no Bethesda logo, not even a flicker on the monitor to show the graphics card is doing something.

I've tried disableing some of the latest mods I installed, at least the ones I remember being the latest oens, and the game still will not launch. Fallout 4 is working perfectly, however I have noticed that it does not bring up a windows permission prompt when it launches.

The same happend when using alternate beginning/start. After disabeling all my mods and enabeling them 10 at a time i eventually narroved it down to being "Amazing follower tweaks" that caused the issue. I have no idea why that mod in particular caused the crashes, but the game worked just fine after i disabled Amazing follower tweaks.

Vortex Version: 0.18.6 Memory: 15.94 GB System: win32 x64 (10.0.17134) I don't know if this is a problem on Vortex's end or if it's F4SE, but I'm trying everything I can. I updated F4SE to the latest version (0.6.16) and tried to run Fallout, but it crashes every time either right after the splash screen or a few seconds after the main menu loads. Once, I got far enough to load my save, but then it ccrashed in the loading screen. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all my mods and F4SE in various orders, tried using older versions of F4SE, run as administrator and not, redeployed my mods countless times, tried to run from Steam and from Vortex, and still nothing. I have not tried to reinstall Fallout 4 yet because I'm afraid I'll lose my saves, but if there's a way to restore them after an uninstall, I will try that next. Thanks in advance.
