Getting this Error ever since installing 0.8 beta: Failed to initialize Oculus! [Unable to locate LibOVRRT symbol:over_GetFovStencil... #143

Ever since I have installed the new 0.80 beta I am now getting the error "Failed to initialize Oculus! [Unable to locate LibOVRRT symbol:over_GetFovStencil ..." and cannot start the game in VR with my Oculus Rift.

I am able to open the game in 2D and try to select the oculus VR mode but after re-opening the game again it gives me this error. How can I fix this situation?

Thanks,

I was able to fix my problem. For anyone who was curious or having the same issue here is what I believe happened and fixed it (I'm using an Oculus Rift on a 1080 video gard so this was written for Oculus Rift users, any other headset adjust instructions as needed):

Cause: Downloaded the new 0.8 update and dragged it over to my AI folder in steam. Then possibly I selected the wrong option in the Mother VR settings to Oculus instead of Steam VR and ever since been receiving errors. I don't know for sure if that was the main cause though, or what exact events caused the bug.

Solution: Completely wiped all of Alien Isolation from my steam folder (and uninstalling as well within steam) and deleted the settings from the (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata[user number]\214490) area. (This didn't delete my save files surprisingly unless it backed it up via cloud save, still before deleting the folder mentioned above make a backup and put it on your desktop or documents for safekeeping). Then reinstall Alien Isolation and drag over the 0.8 mod (I did the 0.6 mod first, but not sure if that's required. To be safe you can do the 0.6 mod first). Have Steam VR on already, turn on Alien Isolation, go into the settings and select Steam VR, not Oculus! Go into the properties on Alien Isolation in Steam and uncheck (turn it off) the Game Theater Steam VR setting, now restart Alien isolation and play the game. If the controls don't make any sense its because you're probably on Vive controller inputs and not Oculus controller input. Go to the main menu in alien isolation and under the Mother VR settings choose (input) then choose Oculus and your controller inputs should now be mapped correctly to the touch controllers........

Sorry if any of the directions sound confusing. I am going off the memory of what I did last night to make this work. I'm so glad it works now....... Wait, Nvidia has a graphic driver update?! Sure let's update, that sounds like a great idea!.......the end?
