Hi, I am also using a PSVR connected via Trinus PSVR and my setup works very well for Alien Isolation. I think the problem is not MotherVR related but related to TrinusPSVR settings. Remember that if you are using Trinus PSVR you must select extended desktop in your monitor settings and also the update frequency must be the same as your main monitor so perhaps you can try adjusting the update frequency for your PSVR to 60 Hz in your Nvidia settings menu. Let me know how it goes. Are you able to open Steam VR at all?
Hi @StockholmNative, thanks for your comment. I've got extended desktop. You do /not/ need to set the refresh rate of the PSVR to 60 Hz or set every screen to 1080p. That is a myth. Every other program works well the way I have this set up. Just to check, I set things up the way you suggest, and sure enough, MotherVR still didn't work, but now my monitor was blurry and my PSVR was giving me an intense headache due to the flicker. Please don't tell people to set their PSVR to 60 Hz, that's a really bad idea, and can make people physically ill!
The issue is definitely in some interaction of MotherVR and how Trinus does SteamVR compatibility.
Here is a screenshot of my Trinus PSVR settings. Please ensure that your main monitor resolution is at 1920*1080 and the PSVR has the same resolution.
Have you tried moving MotherVR to the PSVR from your desktop using Alt*Tab?
I have adjusted the startup settings for Alien Isolation in Steam using this array:
-disableblinders -skipintro -pixelscale 1.4 -steamvr
Thanks again for your post. I have PSVR 0.9.9k, which has slightly different settings, but they're generally the same. There is no "Steam VR Alt." option. The first drop down only has SteamVR, and cinematic and non-vr options to select.
The command line settings you suggest are already set via the MotherVR options menu, so I don't need to add them to the command line.
Alt-tab doesn't move windows around. I tried using win+shift+right arrow in order to move the window around, but it didn't help, it just minimized the Alien Isolation window I described in the first post (it's like a full screen preview window).
Really weird. Mother VR opens and runs on my PSVR normally regardless if I open it directly from the desktop or from within Steam VR. And you are using a later version of Trinus PSVR than the one I am using here. Not sure what happens if you tick the Force Set Display option as i don't have that setting in my Trinus PSVR version. I switched to the earlier MotherVR version 0.6.0 from version 0.8.0 because I was experiencing problems with crouching and also the wrench attack was activated randomly without any input from my keyboard or game controller, I use an xbox one controller. It took me a little while to configure my system to make it work flawlessly admittedly so it was a frustrating experience to get it working to say the least.
what i think force display does is it just sets the default desktop (ie the one the start menu is on) when i press start.
wondering if @Nibre has anything to suggest?
Thanks for making MotherVR. It doesn't (yet) work on my set up so I thought I'd file a bug.
I have enabled MotherVR Steam VR in the game options.
I use SteamVR with the PSVR, which I run with Trinus PSVR. Trinus is a software that makes the PSVR show up similarly to a Vive. All other VR programs work, but MotherVR does not. What normally happens is the VR program or game shows a small render window on my monitor desktop which I can click on to give it mouse and controller input; and the 3D view is on the PSVR. Instead I get a full screen window on the desktop, which contains a very small view of one of the eyes and a very thick black border. There is no display on the PSVR, it shows the desktop and desktop icons, not even the SteamVR grid.
I use a 1080ti GPU, PSVR is connected via DVI DL at 1080p 120 Hz, and the desktop monitor is connected via HDMI at 4k, 60 Hz.
Is there any way I can help you debug this? How can I assist you?
Thank you
